Welcome to Foodie Friday! I’m linking up with Annmarie from the Fit Foodie Mama, Esther from Chocolate Runner Girl + Jess from Hello To Fit to create awesome healthy recipes each week! This week’s theme = On-the-Go Snacks!
I have a giveaway running for one of my U.S. readers to try the new Nutritional Boosters from Bob’s Red Mill, so check out my recipe for vegan chocolate milk + enter below!
Do you love snail mail/getting packages as much as I do? It’s like Christmas every time!
I’ve long been a fan of Bob’s Red Mill and in the past, I’ve used their flours (whole wheat, spelt, almond, coconut) and also their oats and pancake mixes. They make great products, and have tons to choose from. Recently, they came out with nutritional boosters!
Their Protein Powder Nutritional Booster comes in four different varieties: vanilla, chocolate, protein + fiber, and chai.
Product highlights:
- 20g plant-based protein per serving
- 11g fiber per serving (9g soluble)
- Vegan
- Gluten-free
- Bacillus coagulans probiotics
- This is a spore-forming bacteria + doesn’t require refrigeration! Probiotics can help with reintroducing beneficial bacteria to your gut flora, so if you’ve been sick + taking antibiotics, or suffering from diarrheal illnesses, irritable bowel syndrome, or GI inflammation, these can help! :] That being said, I’m not your doctor and I don’t know your entire medical history, so if you have any doubts, check with your physician first!
- No soy or dairy ingredients
- Sweetened with monk fruit!
Check out their new Nutritional Boosters and also get a coupon for em’!
I was actually half-inspired to make this due to Jen’s Hiker Mocha recipe , but I ended up not adding the coffee, which I actually only had because it was a sample from my Bulu box!
Despite having finished med school not too long ago, I rarely ever had (or have) coffee, so it would’ve kept me up forever. I fully intend to add it though if I ever get to embark on a long hike (or need to stay up and need a quick pick-me-up)!
So you’re basically getting vegan chocolate milk today (it’s a great post-workout snack, and easily portable in a shaker or water bottle!). I just came back from Hawai’i yesterday night at about 11 p.m. and simplicity is nice, so it doesn’t get much easier than this recipe! :P

Vegan Chocolate Milk
Ingredients:
- 1 package (or scoop) of Bob’s Red Mill Nutritional Booster (Chocolate)
- 8-12 oz. non-dairy milk (e.g. almond, soy, rice)
- 1 tbsp instant coffee (optional; not pictured)
- 4-5 ice cubes (optional; not pictured)
Instructions:
- Mix or blend everything together until smooth.*
- Add ice cubes if desired.
- Serve cold!
*Give it a little bit of time to sit before adding the ice cubes! It’ll allow the chia seeds some time to fluff up!
The giveaway ends at the end of this month on 06/30/16 at midnight EST!

Usually my grocery is the LAST to get new goodies like this, but low and behold, I see BRM protein powders right on the “health food” aisle a few weeks ago, haha! It was a pleasant surprise ;)

I love Bob’s Red Mill products (I am weirdly obsessed with their Quinoa) Butt his looks delicious!
I have to admit the title of “Vegan Chocolate Milk” had me confused, but now I’m super intrigued! Sounds like a great post workout snack, plus I could bring it to the gym in the pouch with me and make it on my ride home
it takes me 30 minutes from gym-to-home which is the MOST important time to get nutrients into your body
Thanks for the recommendation Farrah!
