Welcome to September’s Ultimate Coffee Date! Come catch up on life/hang out with me this month + let me know what’s been going on in your life! (I don’t know about you, but I’m honestly still trying to process the fact that there are only a few months left to this year. It still feels like 2021 has only just begun…)
Ultimate Coffee Date: September 2021
If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d…tell you that I have (sadly) officially run out of scheduled posts as of 8/31, so I really need to start writing again. It was nice while my overachieving productivity streak lasted, but lately, I’ve just been super tired lately and free time keeps on dwindling. On the plus side, I finally have my own desk space/at-home “office!” I only get to work from home 1 day out of the week (subject to decrease shortly), but I never thought I’d even get to do this ever, so I’m thankfully for even getting to do it for the course of COVID-19. I have a standing desk and finally have a legit chair too! (Up until a week ago, my office chair was a folding chair.) My brother’s office is moving to a different location so we got to loot prevent their office chairs from going to waste.
If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d…tell you that Muffin is pretty comfortable with her new space! (Of course I had to move her shark house too! I’m so glad she likes it. Best $8 I’ve ever spent.) She’s lived with me in like 4-5 different states at this point so I think she’s pretty used to it. I still feel bad for moving her so many times though.
If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d…tell you that I got hooked on Final Fantasy XIV! It’s nice to get to escape to a different world sometimes, however temporary. (…Especially when things happening/people in our actual-world are still remaining so wildly disappointing.) It may be time for me to finally stop neglecting my blog though. I am forever-forever playing catch-up.

End-of-Last-Month-ish Recap!
- Last summer, we escaped town for a short weekend camping trip and found a gorgeous spot near Shaver Lake + also did some hiking on the Shaver Lake Lakeview Trail!
- You may have already read about this hike in my Half Dome post, but it’s such a gorgeous hike that it deserves another mention since it can be pretty difficult to snag a permit for Half Dome itself! The Mist Trail is (in my humble opinion) one of the prettiest hikes in California that I’ve gone on so far!
- What’s the longest hike you’ve ever been on? To date, mine is probably Rose Peak!
- I’m all for shady trails in the summertime, so the Purisima Creek to Craig Britton Trail was right up my alley!
- What’s one of your favorite local eateries?
- Any plans you’re excited about lately?
- What’s your home office setup like?

Are you doing telemedicine from home? I did some video visits from home at the beginning of the pandemic but I’ve been in the office since. I don’t find the telemedicine visits very useful except for medication management or visits that don’t need an exam. We have been swamped with school physicals, as usual, and I am exhausted!
I guess my favorite local eatery in the town where I live is the Thai restaurant. I much prefer driving to Chicago–the options are endless!
I do about one day per week of virtual (telephone and video) visits — like you, I’ve found them most helpful for medication management/visits that don’t require an exam. I feel ya on the physicians! We’ve definitely been getting a ton of those lately too.
Ooo, that sounds awesome! We have a Thai place close by but I’ve only tried it once so far—gotta go back soon! :]
I really love taking advantage of telemedicine visits when I can. Saves a ton of time and hassle! Glad things are going well for you. Love to see all of your travel and hiking photos. Thanks for stopping in for coffee
Agreed — I have a number of patients who live kinda far away so the virtual visits have been especially helpful for them! :]
Thanks for hosting!
That is the great thing about hiking — at least in these parts, trails are generally pretty shady.
Love the shark bed! My first cats lived in 3 different states, but that was the most I’ve moved furkids. OTOH, we also moved 2 cats & 2 dogs up here . . .
Agreed!
hehehe, nice!! I’d love to adopt a dog someday but definitely want a sizable yard before that happens. Fingers crossed!
That’s great that you’ve been able to take some virtual appointments.
It’s always fun to check out new eateries – and those fries look amazing!
It’s definitely been nice!
They were so good! :D
That’s great that you can working virtually.
I am now but they would like to be back at the office.
I love to hike…10 miles has been the most. The majority are 3-5 miles though.
Love that bed. I have 2 cats but I wonder if they would use it.
I like having a mix of different hiking distances–keeps things interesting!
hehe, I wasn’t sure if my cat would, but I’d hide treats in there every here and there and after a couple weeks, she started sleeping in there. :]!
One thing I am looking forward to going back to the office is my chair. I’ve made do with various chairs we had around the house, but none are quite right.
Is that a rainbow light keyboard? So cool!
Thanks for joining us for coffee!!
Nice chairs can be so hard to come by and make so much of a difference!
I got on the mechanical keyboard train earlier this year and it’s making typing a more fun experience, hehe. I like the colors too!
Thanks for hosting!

Love your new office space! With our oldest daughter away at college and most likely staying permanently away except for visits, I’ve been using her old bedroom as my office more and more. I think I’m going to make it official! Not sure how she feels about that but whatever…
Welllll, if she’s gone for most days out of the year, I feel like you’re well within your rights to stage a takeover, haha. :D No sense in wasting a room!

I need to set up an office space for me. Love your cat’s little bed! So cute.
I have so many blog posts that I need to write and/or schedule. I want to try and focus on that soon because Fall is a busy enough time as it is!

It’s weird how it’s such a small thing but makes such a big difference! :]
hehe, I saw it on Amazon and couldn’t not get it. :D!
Hang in there! Hopefully we’ll both be able to get on that! :P
No way- I have a cat named Muffin as well (at least I’m assuming your Muffin is a cat- it’s hard to see her in her shark house!) And I have to laugh because I see one of those little plastic springs in front of her house- my Muffin loves those too.
I wish I had a home office- maybe someday. Of course I don’t really need one because I don’t work from home (I’m a massage therapist- hard to do that remotely.) Your setup looks nice!

haha, yep, she’s a cat! :P Her “full” name is Princess Muffin but I call her all sorts of variations of Muffin. That’s awesome that she has a name twin! :]!
hehe, that definitely would be difficult to do remotely. I don’t get to use it too much for work but it’s nice to have a little retreat at home anyway!
