Welcome to the October’s Ultimate Coffee Date of the year! I can’t believe we only have a couple months left in the year!
Ultimate Coffee Date: October 2024
If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…I went to a renaissance faire for the first time last month!
It was super fun — I won an “eating stick” from a blacksmithing contest and got to see one of my friends from when I was living in Kentucky!
If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…remember the mug I painted at Color Me Mine last month? I love how the finished product turned out! :]
If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…one of my super cool patients volunteers over at the Monterey Bay Aquarium and gets a batch of free tickets per year. She was cool enough to get me 4 of em’, so I spent the weekend over there hanging out with the jellies + the otters + penguins.
I haven’t been there since before the pandemic, but I love getting to go over there! I feel like I go every 5-ish years or so — it’s cool getting to see all the different animals + they do such a great job over there. <3

We used to go to those Renaissance fairs when our kids were little. Always fun to see and do new things. Sounds like things are good for you :)
Agreed! :] This past week was rough, but overall I can’t complain!!
I love that mug! Such a pretty color.
You’re going to China??? That sounds like an adventure! Have fun!
Thank you! I’m so happy with how it turned out! I wanna go back and make more things now, haha.
I am! I finally started/finished packing yesterday night, so hooray for that! :P Hopefully I didn’t forget anything essential…

I ‘ve never been to a Renaissance Festival, but they do look fascinating with all the costumes & activities. Your mug turned out great!
It was a lot of fun! I may dream up a costume so I can wear it for when I go next year, hehe. :D
China? How exciting!
I’m going to Cape Cod for a few days.
No on the Renaissance faire but it looks interesting. I do love aquariums.
Ahh, have fun! That’s such a beautiful area.

Have fun in China! My students and I finished our unit on Early Asian Civilizations. Last year was my first time and I enjoyed it. This year my students not so much.
I’ve never been to a Renaissance Festival, but have seen them only on TV.
Thank you! That’s awesome that there’s a unit on that! I don’t remember getting to learn anything about that when I was in school.
I have never been to a Ren faire although my youngest daughter went over the summer. Have so much fun in China!
Thank you so much! It was a lot of fun! I have so much to write about, haha. Hopefully will get to it soon!

Going to the Renaissance Fair was a big thing to do in high school — it fit right in with the Ursula Le Guin novels and D&D games we enjoyed as hobbies.
It’s been a hile since I’ve been to an aquarium but I agree the jellyfish are so cool!
That’s really cool! I haven’t read her books yet but I’ve heard of em’ (particularly the Earthsea chronicles/series?) and they’re on my TBR list! :]
