Welcome to the Ultimate Coffee Date! Come catch up on life/hang out with me virtually! (May passed by so quickly that I almost missed June’s!)
If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d…ask you what the last board game you played was. I recently played Mariposas. You play through different seasons and try to get your butterflies to head north in the spring, spread out in the summer, and then return south for the fall.
It’s a gorgeous game + reminded me it’s been quite some time since I’ve played a board game… (I used to play Settlers til the break of dawn with my friends while we were in grad school!) Maybe someday game night can be a thing again when things are closer to being normal-normal again–we’re inching along there!
If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d…tell you that my friend and I decided to try our hands at painting last month! I did a little Chinese painting back when I was in elementary school/junior high-ish and was pretty terrible at it, but we pulled up a Bob Ross video on youtube and tried following along. We didn’t have what we needed to do the liquid white preemptive coating that Bob Ross did for his paintings, so it was a tad difficult to blend things out without just smudging everything completely, but we tried!
If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d…I’d tell you that I’m going on a backpacking trip next month that I’m pretty excited about! There’s a good amount of elevation gain and I didn’t have too much time to take off for the 40-ish miles we’ll be hiking, so we’ve been training by carrying our packs and climbing a bunch of stairs. (Would it be frowned upon if I went back to my gym and took my pack with me + did this on the stairmaster? That feels like the most time-efficient way so far, haha.)
If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d…tell you that I’ve been trying to explore nearby-ish eateries (still takeout lately) and happened upon a place called A Sack of Potatoes! I love potatoes, so clearly, coming here was a must. *-*

I will be at Mt Tam too next weekend! Part hiking part running. I hear it’s pretty hilly! My last board game was Rummy Cube. Thanks for joining for coffee
Ahh, I can’t wait to hear about your weekend! :]!

I haven’t played a game in a while, but like Deborah it probably was Ruimmikub — if that counts as a board game. ;-) Now that we’re breaking out of our pandemic shell, we’re trying new places for dinner. That potato place sounds fun!
Thanks for joining us for coffee — maybe next time you can tell us about your hike!
I’ve never played that but it sounds like it counts if you’ve both played it! :P I hope you’ve found some cool places lately!
I’ve fallen behind in training for it–will need to get back to it soon!

Oh gosh, that Sack of Potatoes place would be a favorite spot for me! We used to play a lot of board games when the kids were younger, but don’t do that very often these days. Last winter (before Covid hit), we had weekly Sunday family dinners (with all three kids, plus the oldest daughter’s husband-to-be) and we’d usually play a game (Clue was the favorite).
Ahh, it was so good! *-* I’m craving some again now, haha.
That sounds like fun! My family used to play board games together when my brother and I were little, but not so much anymore. :[

It’s been so long since I played a board game! Mariposas looks fun and beautiful! I love potatoes too and have been experimenting with different toppings on baked ones. Recently I used a Mexican street corn-style mixture on potatoes and it was great! When I belonged to the gym I’d see people on the Stairmaster with backpacks all the time!
Ooo, that sounds awesome! I think I’ll need to try that too! :]
I’m glad I’m not the only one with such a thought, hehehe.

I have to laugh at the thought of you on the stairmaster at the gym with your backpack! Although, if I saw someone doing that I would assume they were training for something.
Love the cycling photo- it looks beautiful there!

haha, I guess there’d be little other reason to do so otherwise. :P
My friend captured it! :D Tis one of the few photos I have of me actually on a bike, hehe.

Yay for an upcoming hiking trip! A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do to prepare so take that backpack to the gym. Who cares what people think!
I don’t even know when I played a board game last… probably when my sons were little. I’m not much of a game person…
I haven’t been painting pictures/scenes, but I have been painting lots of wooden signs at a local Board & Brush Studio and that’s been fun!
We ate out at a lot of different restaurants while in Florida last weekend and it was so nice to be back to somewhat normal.

haha, I’m on it (soon)!
That does sound like fun! :] I’m hoping to try to do a little more painting once things calm down a bit, but we shall seeee.
At long last! I hope things continue to improve/go back to normal/normal-ish!

We played Monopoly–my hubs and my sons early in the pandemic. I can’t think of anything since, but it was fun!
I don’t think my painting would have looked anywhere near that, lol!
I feel like we are leaping back to normal–very suddenly! It feels so good.
Bob Ross is a wonderful teacher, hehehe. :D
It did happen super suddenly, but finallyyyy.

I can’t remember the last board game I played- its been awhile! I haven’t eaten in a restaurant since Feb 2020. It will feel weird to eat out again one of these days!
It’s definitely going to take a long time to get used to what “normal” is again.

Wow! You are so talented. Your paintings look great and I love Bob Ross! 😊 I have never heard of Mariposas but it looks like a fun game. My son met my DIL playing Settlers!
Aww, thank you! Bob Ross is the bestttt — definitely looking forward to following future videos! :]
Ahh, Settlers! Love that game so much. :] Awesome way to meet, especially since that game has been known to destroy friendships! :P

I played Monopoly back in December. My nephew likes that game. I like your painting. You did good. I am not good at painting AT ALL.
