It’s time for another Ultimate Coffee Date ! How’s the year been treating you so far?

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d…tell you that I’ve had a super stressful last few weeks. I came home to Muffin bleeding from her mouth one evening and after a pile of visits to the vet + scans, we still don’t know what caused it and what’s going on with her.
We found out that her hemoglobin was down to 3.5, which is frighteningly low (cat vs human scale for hemoglobin is pretty comparable and for reference, the last and only time I’ve ever had a patient with a hemoglobin that low, we rushed him to the ER for transfusions immediately).
She’s been on a variety of medications and is perking up + has a follow-up visit this evening, so I’d appreciate prayers + good vibes/juju for my sweet fluffs. <3 I don’t know what I’d do without her.

There’s a bakery (Marley’s Treats) in downtown Hayward that we discovered earlier this week that makes all kinds of delicious Filipino fusion treats with awesome flavors an incorporations (e.g. flan, ube, pandan).
I also went to my first Yelp Elite (now going on my 14th year) event of the year at Third Culture Bakery over in Berkeley!
If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d…tell you that I’m a little sad because a phone game I’ve been playing just shut down a few days ago. (It’s basically like the Harry Potter version of Pokemon Go and I’d been playing it ever since the first day it came out.)
Sometime in 2020, I discovered a discord group + would play with people all across the world. It made for a great way to destress during all the sheltering in place throughout this pandemic. We had a wonderful send-off the night before it shut down though by way of a “party bus” discord voice channel where we played music, reminisced and helped everyone still awake reach whatever goals they had prior to the game shutting down.
I’ve apparently walked 2191 km/1361 miles since mid-2019!

I am so sorry for all the stress with Muffin. The fact that she’s perking up is a good sign. Prayers for sweet muffin.
We went to a Yelp Elite event once quite a few years ago. It was at a local chocolate store (my favorite local chocolate store). Sooooo good. And Chocolate + PB is my fav.
There are many hiking challenges here — even in Winter! But nope, never participated in one.

I sure hope Muffin is feeling better! So scary that you can’t find out what is causing the bleeding. A few months ago, I saw a 4 year old for a check up. I don’t normally check hemoglobin on a 4 year old but he was really pale. Glad I did because it was 4! Off to the ER for a transfusion. Funny thing, his dad didn’t tell me that the kid drinks a lot of milk when I asked, but he told the ER that he does…

P.S I love the name Muffin and wanted to name my English Cream Golden “Muffin”, so she would be my Little English Muffin…lol. but my husband wasn’t on board with it…lol

I am sorry to hear about Muffin. Hope she recovers soon and you know what is happening to her. That is the worst – not knowing what is wrong. I have two cats and love them a lot too. Hugs to you!

Poor Muffin! That is so scary. I was wondering what happened. I can’t imagine how scared you must have been. I can’t believe they don’t know the cause. But I hope she has continued to get better. Our animals are so precious and they are our hearts. I’ve had Noodle less than a year and this baby is my everything!😻
