Welcome to the very last Ultimate Coffee Date of the year! How were your Thanksgivings (if you celebrate)?
Ultimate Coffee Date: December 2022
If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d…tell you that…I went camping in Death Valley a couple weekends ago and it was a ton of fun! We did a bunch of hikes, went sandboarding, and had a campfire in the evenings.I’ll write more about the individual hikes in time — it’s been suuuuper extra hectic lately because of work, but also because of an unexpected (mostly because we didn’t expect that this would be able to move forward so quickly) upcoming new addition…but that brings me to my next point!!!
If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d…ask if you remember me talking about adopting a dog back in July…that particular one wasn’t the best fit for us since there was another potential adopted who had way more experience with her specific needs, so we decided to keep lookin’.I’ve wanted to adopt a dog for most of my waking life, but due to parental dissent and lack of a stable home for said dog (aka me moving around all over the country and/or working super long hours), this was not a possibility until…now!!!
We’re driving down tomorrow to pick up this adorable fluff! We haven’t decided on a name yet — I’m all in on naming him Tofu but my partner thinks this is not a dignified name for a 50 lb dog, so the debate continues. We’ve involved our workplaces as well and everyone I work with is quite invested in the outcome.

- Did you do any Black Friday/Cyber Monday shopping? Any cool finds?
- What would you name our fluff?! How do you feel about the name Tofu? :P
- Are you ready for 2023?!

What a cutie! I think Tofu is a great name for your little fluff ball!
How did the gingerbread man with the Santa hat do while sandboarding? BTW, that’s a great capture – you got him right as he was ready to take off!

Thank you! I may make it his middle name if the dissent is too great because I love this name, hahaha.
He actually did okay when he went down butt-first!! Face-first was pretty rough though, but his costume prevented him from eating it in the sand!!
Awww! I’m so happy for you! And I think Tofu is a great name for your new family member. Excited to hear more!
Thanks so much!! I’m glad you agree! :P It’s the world against 3 right now, but since bf’s opinion is one of those 3, we’ll probably end up doing a happy medium compromise, haha. I’m so excited!! (Hoping Muffin won’t be jealous!!)

oh my goodness, I stand behind you and support the naming of TOFU!!! Yes please!! Can’t wait to hear more about your hiking adventures!!!!
Thanks for your support! I remain hopeful but I think he really doesn’t like it (sigh, haha). We have a whole 6-7 hour drive tomorrow ahead of us to decide though!

I’m so excited for you! We waited a long, long time to adopt our first dog, due to life circumstances. Good luck on finding the right name! All our dogs have been rescues, and they came with names — which for the most part we kept. I did want to rename Lola Cocoa but my husband didn’t agree. She would have made a good Cocoa (she was chocolate brown (and tan, and fawn — and had hazel eyes!).
Aww, Cocoa would’ve been a great name! Lola is a cute one too — hard to go wrong!
It took a lot of contemplation but we decided on Tofu in the end! :D
Tofu is perfect!! I love it! I have two cats – Lola and Mateo. I’ve always loved the name Mateo. Glad you had a good time camping in Death Valley. I’ve always thought it was too hot there? I guess not. 😀

Aww, that’s the name of one of my friend’s kids! :] It’s a great name.
It’s deffffinitely hot in the summer (I passed by during my road trip from back in 2019 but did not stop because I didn’t wanna die, haha) — spring/fall/winter are pretty doable though! :]
