Welcome to another Ultimate Coffee Date! Come catch up on life/hang out with me this month + let me know what’s been going on in your life!
Ultimate Coffee Date: August 2021
If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d…tell you that…I managed to survive my backpacking trip on the Rae Lakes Loop Trail!
It was an incredible although at times harrowing experience, but so darn worth it and so, so beautiful. I’m running low on posts that I’ve scheduled into the future so I’ll be writing more about it in the future. In the meantime though, check out some sneak peek photos strewn all over this post!
If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d…tell you that I’ve officially moved out! I’ve lived on my own pretty much the entirety of the past decade+ but for whatever reason, I never felt like an adult-adult until now (so strange). Maybe it was because residency still didn’t truly feel like a “real” job(?).
In any case, I’m going to join in on the unpacking/decorating process over the weekend since work has been super swamped lately. I can’t wait til we’re all moved in!
If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d…tell you that cases are unfortunately once again on the rise and there’s talk about being called back into the hospital again, likely in the fall.
The vast majority of hospitalizations, ICU admissions, and deaths have been amongst those who haven’t been vaccinated yet. The delta variant is highly transmissible and we’ve been seeing it more even in the presumably “young and healthy” population.
If you haven’t gotten vaccinated yet, please please consider doing so. If you have any questions about it that I can answer, please feel free to ask too. It’s my hope everyone will stay safe and healthy.
See past ultimate coffee dates here!

I love your message about COVID. It’s interesting how some people are afraid of the vaccine, but not of other treatments–like accutane that one mom wants for her daughter. Clearly, she doesn’t understand science!!!
Agreed. :/ A lot of people who are afraid of the vaccine are all on board though for the experimental medications to “treat” COVID–I’m trying to understand where it’s coming from but no go so far.

Ye[! Covid is still out there and highly contagious. My husband had it last month, but luckily didn’t get too sick BECAUSE HE’S BEEN VACCINATED. I think we’re all going to get it sooner or later, and if you haven’t been vaccinated you’re really taking a risk.
Beautiful pictures! Can’t wait to hear more about the backpacking trip.
Ahh, I’m so glad your husband is okay! I feel like with the way things are going, most of us are going to end up with it sooner or later too. If it wasn’t affecting other people’s health, I’d be more okay with this, but as it is, this has been so disheartening to see. :[
Thank you! It was so beautiful!

Those photos are stunning! Although harrowing is probably not for me, and now, we do relatively easy day hikes, no backpacking trips. I like my creature comforts.
We’ve lived here for 12 years. It’s our third home (and there was one apartment in between on a temporary assignment). So more moves than many, but many less than some. :)
All vaccinated here. Except for my BIL. Trust me, you don’t even want to have a conversation with him. Thankfully my sister is vaccinated, too, and their adult children as well.

hehehe, it was mainly harrowing because of weather changes (+ I really should’ve trained or at least exercised at some level prior to embarking on this, haha). But I definitely want an easy day hike/more time to chill for the next trip! :P
Nice! I’m in-general somewhat tired of moving so I love the idea of having a “home base” that remains home for a long time! :]!
I’m glad! Sorry to hear about your brother-in-law. I’m glad your sister and their children are vaccinated though at least!

That backpacking trip sounds just amazing! I’d love to do something like that sometime. Your photos are great too. Thanks for dropping in for coffee today
I hope you get to sometime! It was so so pretty! <3
That scenery is gorgeous! Yay on having your own place! Do you have any roommates?
I am so disappointed with our low vaccination rate. And I am angry at the news of low vaccination rates among our first responders — can I request a covid-free ambulance in an emergency? I have to get an MRI and they couldn’t confirm their staff is vaccinated. I may call another place …..
I moved in with my significant other, so technically? :D… hehehe
I am too. It’s really disheartening. I hope you were able to find a place where they were all vaccinated!
One of my nephews is not vaccinated and for the life of me cannot understand why. I cannot convince him either to get vaccinated.

It’s so, so hard to do. I’ve managed to speak with a few of my patients who were hesitant but the ones who were staunchly against it definitely are not going to be changing their minds anytime soon.

Yay for moving back out on your own!
Your pictures from Rae Lakes are stunning! Looks like a beautiful trail.
hehehe, it was time!
Thank you! I still need to write about em’! I’ve been super slacking lately.

Nice photos! I bet that trip was exciting!! I hope all the moving-in stuff went well…such a stressful process.
It definitely was!
I did it in small installments and my bf was home for them to deliver all the big stuff so it thankfully went pretty smoothly!
