Yay for another Ultimate Coffee Date! April is my birthday month, but I’m still kinda having some trouble believing that it’s 2023 (this year has been going by so quickly!)…
Ultimate Coffee Date: April 2023
If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d tell you that…I’m officially certified for open water diving! (Aka I did manage to survive the ocean sessions in Monterey after all!)
It was super cold (~50 degrees) and the visibility was absolutely terrible because of the weather we’ve been having lately. (I could not see my diving buddy or my instructors unless they were pretty much directly in front of my face.) Despite this, our instructors were awesome and our class carried on and made it!
I’m hoping to do warm weather diving from here on out (they said it pretty much can only go up from here, haha). My brother and his gf are planning on diving in Australia and New Zealand next year, so I’m hoping to go as well!
I’m definitely going to need more experience though, so I’m gonna try to see if I can go to either Mexico or Hawai’i later this year or early next year to get my advanced open water diving certification. 70-80 degrees sounds so, so much nicer than 50…

If we were having coffee/tea today, I’d…tell you that my friend and I have revived what I dubbed our “Fat Girl Tuesdays” (although it’s now on Wednesdays because I have dance practice on Tuesdays).
What is FGT, you ask? In pre-Covid times, we used to get together once a week to try out a new restaurant and catch up on life. After Covid hit though, that sadly went to a screeching halt and we haven’t seen each other in ages. Since things are finally kindasorta looking up, I’ve been trying to get back to doing all the things I used to do again, this being one of em’! :]

I want to do Fat Girl days! That sounds amazing!
Congrats on your certification! I took the course and did amazing until I had to get in the pool. I got claustrophobic and had a panic attack with the gear on. Oh, well.
Oh no! Totally understandable — it can definitely feel really constricting!
OMG, that cold water! I’d be having a panic attack on so many levels, especially with the cloudy water,etc.
I’m definitely hoping for clearer and warmer weather the next time I dive!!
Congratulations! Hopefully you can go somewhere warm and dive soon. I’m planning to visit Hilton Head again this summer and I cannot wait.

Congrats on your certification! I thought that you said -50 degrees and was shocked at how cold it was. Then I realized that that couldn’t make sense. I love the idea of “Fat Girl Tuesdays”!

haha, I would absolutely have died! I do wanna try diving in Iceland someday though — that’s about as cold as I think I’m willing to someday tolerate! :P
