It’s Foodie Friday! I mentioned wayy back when that I had started playing FFXIV. Progress has been quite slow because I’m very much a “smell the flowers, complete all the side-quests” type of gamer, but someday, I will finish it! My friend gave me this cookbook as a belated birthday present last year!

Author: Victoria Rosenthal Genre: Food/Cooking Pages: 192
I looked up the author and she blogs over at Pixelated Provisions + combines her love for food + video games by in these cookbooks + on her blog! She’s written one for Pokemon, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Street Fighter too. I also saw some recipes on her blog from Harvestella, The Legend of Zelda, + Baldurs Gate 3! :D
There are over 70 recipes in this cookbook and the chapters are brightened up with photos/illustrations from the game. (Full disclosure, I haven’t played FFXIV in the longest time but this made me want to get back into it! (I am forever picking up/putting back down (rinse + repeat) my 2398407234 interests.)
The little bread icon is styled like the main quest icons in the game! :]
There’s a foreword written by the FFXIV producer/director (who is a genius) + a super cute intro written from the perspective of a super cute “culinarian.” (This is a class in FFXIV where you can cook different dishes to boost your stats, make money, and complete side quests!)
The “location details” section that talks about the different cuisines in the different cities/towns you end up visiting in the game. The “Ingredients Guide” goes over some ingredients that people may not have heard of before.
The book is divided into the following chapters:
Breakfast
I’m always down for breakfast food! You can see the full breakfast contents above, but I especially liked the look of the “Royal Eggs” (or eggs benedict!). <3
Appetizers
Looking for something light? This section contains recipes for dishes like Forest Miq’abob (vegan shish kabobs), crab croquette, popoto salad (potato salad!), steppe salad…
Futo-Maki Rolls
Breads
More in the mood for baking? There are recipes for bacon bread, Ishgardian muffins (English muffins!), Knight’s bread (rye bread), walnut bread…
Honey Muffins
Soups and Stews
It’s definitely soup weather right now, so I’m especially looking forward to trying to make things from this section! Miso Soup with Tofu, Cawl Cenin (creamy soup made with chicken stock — can be made vegetarian with vegetable broth!)), Bouillabaiise (another quest item!), Oden (a dairy-free fish stew), Skybuilder’s Stew…
I’ve crafted this Beef Stew a wholeeee lot of times in the game because they were selling for a lot in the marketplace once upon a time.
Main Dishes
Need dinner ideas? Learn to make Creamy Salmon Pasta, Pan-fried Mahi-Mahi, Stuffed Cabbage Rolls, Pork Kakuni, Trapper’s Quiche…
These would have been delicious sides for Thanksgiving, but…more holidays are coming up soon! Chawan-mushi (steamed egg dish!), Cheese Risotto, Ratatouille, Mashed Popotoes, Imam Bayildi (stuffed eggplants!)…
Sautéed Mushrooms
Desserts
If you have a sweet tooth, this is likely to be your favorite section! Apple Strudel, Coffee Biscuit, Dango (rice balls! I had these in Japan), Kupo Nuts (this one doesn’t have an equivalent in-game item but they look good!), Princess Pudding, Rolanberry Cheesecake…
Chocobo Cake
