I’m sorry that I’ve been behind on responding lately! My days are way more enjoyable now (I <3 my new preceptor), so I’ve been using my extra hours to catch up on all the stuff I couldn’t get to in the last 3 weeks because everything would always be closed by the time I got out. I promise I’ll get back to everyone soon! :]
Today, I wanted to introduce you to Sant, and the awesomeness that is fruit-infused water! (If you’re looking really confused, don’t worry. I’d never heard of it either until I found out about idrinksant!)
Sant is short for “Santulan” (balance). idrinksant works directly in rural communities with farmers and women’s self-help groups in India. Most of the families there struggle to meet their basic needs because although there’s an abundance of fruit in these villages, there hasn’t been much of a demand for it, because most people haven’t heard of it.
If you know me, you’re probably aware that I love supporting people and companies who give back to their community and that I really believe in the importance of helping others. I’m also all about greener living wherever possible, and idrinksant has both those covered!
The money raised for this project will be used to help farmers and women’s self-help groups harvest all the crops (which can only be harvested during 1 month out of the entire year). They use super simple packaging, and promote re-usable bottles and conscious consumption wherever possible.
Sant is a superfruit (Garcinia indica) that’s been used for thousands of years in Ayuervedic medicine to prevent and treat illnesses, and to balance the mind and body. It contains vitamins B1, B3, B9, B12, C, and also contains 5x the amount of antioxidants that kale has.

Last year, when I went to Philly for the Family Medicine conference, I got a flavor infuser water bottle from one of the residency programs I want to rotate at next year. I’ve been meaning to make fruit-infused water for the longest time, because I’m pretty sure that’d help a lot with my crusade to stop being such a cactus, but…I didn’t really get around to it until now.
Sant has a somewhat tart flavor to it, so I’ve been throwing it in with all sorts of different fruits for flavor experimentation.
Out of said experiments, my favorite thus far = 2 pieces of sant, 2 blackberries & 2 raspberries! :]
Aside from fruit-infused water, you can use it for a variety of other things (e.g. throwing it into granola, a souring agent for cooking, and/or eat it after the infusion).
I decided to make an…
Antioxidant Bomb Protein Smoothie
Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- 2-3 pieces sant
- 2 tbsp pomegranate juice concentrate
- 1 pack Sambazon unsweetened acai smoothie pack
- 1/4 cup frozen blueberries
- 1 scoop protein powder (vanilla, or unflavored)
Instructions:
- Infuse 2-3 pieces of sant in 1/2 cup of water for at least 1 hour.
- Blend water with pomegranate juice concentrate, acai smoothie pack, frozen blueberries, and protein powder.
- Serve immediately!
idrinksant has a kickstarter going on right now!
(Deadline is on March 17, by 3:35 p.m.!)
Disclaimer: I received free samples of Sant in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my time. As always, all thoughts & opinions are mine and mine alone!
- Have you ever heard of sant?
- Do you drink fruit-infused water? What’s your favorite combination?

I love drinking infused water! My favorite lately has been very simple and only requires a couple of orange slices. I also had an apple cherry one yesterday that was delicious too!
I may or may not have just pledged so I could try this out for myself! :)

Apple cherry sounds amazingggggg! <3 I miss cherries, but I don't think they'll be affordable here for another several months. :[ Sigh!
Hope you like it! :D!
Well this seems like a delicious product for a good cause. I’m all about that, too! I don’t drink infused water (I’m so boring, lol), but I do love, love, love blueberries! <3

It’s okay, I’m typically very boring too, but I am gonna try to change that! :P
I’ve never heard of Sant before, what a great concept in giving back! I drink a lot of water but not a lot of fruit infused, when I do my go to is orange and lemon with fresh mint. If you make it and let it sit for a few hours allowing the water to absorb the citrus flavor it’s even better :)

Cucumber Mint or Orange slices are my favorite. So refreshing. I’ve never heard of sant, but it sounds interesting!

I love that you used an acai pack to make a smoothie! I always just make acai bowls with them, but I’ll have to experiment with throwing them in smoothies!
