Mango Passionfruit Poptarts

Welcome to our weekly Foodie Friday link up! I’m linking up with Annmarie from the Fit Foodie Mama, Esther from Chocolate Runner Girl + Jess from Hello To Fit to create awesome healthy recipes each week! Today’s theme = Kitchen Cleanse!

This isn’t so much a cleanse more so as a “free for all” week! I’m actually super sad to almost be done using up this jam, but I suppose all good things must come to an end at some point!

Ever try making your own poptarts? I think these would likely be more visually appealing if the jam had been a different color than the phyllo dough, but alas! Rest assured, they still taste all sorts of amazing though, and they’re pretty simple to make!

Having a brush will make your life a whole lot easier though! I have another recipe using phyllo dough scheduled in February where a brush was in fact used, and it wasn’t as difficult then, so there’s that! (It might have been the increase in familiarity in using this dough too though.)

BUT ANYWAY.

These thankfully turned out well, despite being mildly labor-intensive (only because I think I froze/thawed/re-froze the dough one too many times…). I imagine this gets easier with practice! :D

  2. Layer 4 pieces of phyllo sheets on a prepared baking sheet, brushing each sheet with melted butter before adding the next.
  3. Spread mango passionfruit jam on the 4th sheet, leaving a ~1-in. border around all the edges.
  4. Layer the remaining 4 phyllo sheets, brushing each sheet with butter before adding the next.
  5. Cut the pastry into 8 rectangles and bake for ~15 minutes, or until golden brown.

  5. These are awesome! I haven’t yet made my own Poptarts but I’ve been seeing them popping up more and more at local bakeries and shops. I actually just had an apple cinnamon one the other day at my favorite local coffeehouse. I’m definitely inspired to make my own and I think Sienna would really get a kick out of them. I hope everything is going great with you!
