Welcome to Travel Tuesdays! I’m [finally] back on my “let’s catch up on the 23489273 travel posts from 2017 that I didn’t write about until a full year later” kick…I still haven’t even finished my Scotland adventures (yes, I still have a couple left to share >_>), but I’ll get to em’ in due time. Today, we’re going to…a waterfall in Ithaca!
Don’t go chasing waterfalllsss…
I may or may not have taken myself on a waterfall tour throughout Ithaca.
Translation: Brace yourself for many future Travel Tuesdays with gorges (heh heh heh) gorgeous waterfalls!
Ithaca Falls
This is an absolutely beautiful waterfall with a ~75-100(?) ft drop.
The trail is open year-round and is super easy to access–it also takes only about 5-10 minutes (if making periodic stops) to get to the falls! You could do it in flip flops if you so chose.
Location: Lake St., Ithaca, NY 14850 (the falls will be on your right)!
Distance: 0.2 miles (told you it was short!)
Difficulty: Easy
Parking: Free! (Available on either side of the bridge + on side streets.)
Ithaca Falls is a popular place for students since it’s really close to Cornell University–I came across a lot of people studying, a photoshoot, a bunch of photographers, and a few people trying to fish.

You can see remnants of old mills that used to line the banks of the gorge too! Wading was allowed when I went there back in June of 2017, but swimming is absolutely prohibited (people have died trying to do this, so please don’t try). It had just rained when I went a couple weeks ago, so both swimming and wading were prohibited when I went. Dogs must be leashed!
We decided to hit up a place called Waffle Frolic on our way to a few other waterfalls and split this goodness right here! <3
The above was the equivalent of our “return to civilization celebratory meal,” although so many of the waterfalls in Ithaca are so close that it’s barely a departure from civilization. I’d love to live smack in the middle of a place so beautiful! <3
Check out other hikes I’ve gone on!
- What’s the most ginormous waterfall you’ve ever been to?
- Have you ever been to Ithaca?

I’m so jealous that he had such a beautiful campus/town to live in! I love that place so much! :]
I don’t think I’ve ever really seen a waterfall in person, but these look beautiful! I like that it’s not too far away from civilization too. LOL
And Mm…waffles.

Agreed! <3!
Looks awesome! The biggest one I’ve been to is Niagara Falls, but that was when I was about 13! So I need to see some more waterfalls soon. :)
Awesome! I went to Niagara Falls back when I was around that age too–I need to go back sometime!! :]

It was a super short hike but with an awesome payoff! :]
So beautiful….I’ve never been to Ithaca (or to very many waterfalls in general). And that waffle ;-)
I feel like I tend to gravitate toward them whenever I go hiking, heheh. :D…
That waffle was amazinggg!! *-*
I’ve never been to Ithaca that looks beautiful!
It’s such a gorgeous place! <3
I haven’t been to Ithaca…actually I’ve barely been to the east coast since I was 8 or so! The biggest waterfall I’ve been to was Mesa Falls in Idaho – not sure how tall it is, but it’s actually a series of 2 huge falls.
I’ve never been to Idaho, but the photos of Mesa Falls on Google images are gorgeous! *-*
What a gorgeous waterfall. I have been to Niagara falls!
Ooo, I need to go back there! I went with my family back when I was 11 so it’s definitely been a while! :o
