I (sadly) don’t even recall making fitness goals last year but apparently I did! How did I do? Terribly. But it’s okay, because I am a work in progress, haha. I’m linking up with Darlene, Michelle, Renee, Jenn, + Zenaida for Fit Five Friday to share my fitness goals for 2024!
Successful
- Be active every day. This one went swimmingly now that we have a Tofu!
- Go to dance practice 1x/week. I actually did pretty good with this one! I dropped out on this a few times due to injuries/work, but I did in fact make it into the company dancers!
- Go hiking 1-2x/month. These happened more in concentrated batches of time, but the amount of hiking I did definitely equates to at least 1-2x/month! I’m notoriously wonderful at not writing about said hikes/travels until a year or two later but I do actually have a couple below! I will be writing about Big Sur, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Craters of the Moon, and Pirates Cove hopefully somewhere next year!
At Least I Tried(?)
- Drink 6 cups of fluid daily. Um. I made it to maybe an average of 4 a day? I know this sounds terrible but believe me, it’s an improvement.
- Lift 2-3x/week (once knee is better). My knee is still being a little weird and now so is my hip (yay), but I’m hoping that stretching/cross-training will fix it. (Or physical therapy…)
- Pole, Aerial Silks, and/or Lyra 1-2x/week. I definitely could’ve done better but I did go to a few lyra classes!
- Yoga/stretching before bedtime at least 3x/week. The thought has been there. I’m at like once a week right now!
Needs Work/Failed Miserably
- Get back to meal prepping (or at least cooking – I miss food blogging!). …haha. :[ I made a couple half-hearted attempts but I definitely could/need to do better.
- Go back to BJJ – 2-3x/week. I made a step in the right direction, and by that, I mean I rejoined in mid-November!
- Climbing 1x/month would be great too! I have not gone climbing at all this year. :'(
Fitness Goals for 2024
Honestly, my goals don’t really seem to change all that much from year to year. My 2020 goals were pretty similar too, so you may notice a whole lotta repeats… I tend to like to shoot for the moon + land among the stars, so I don’t fully expect to be doing all of these every single week (especially not the upper limit of them all — I’d have to go part-time for that). This is more of a mix n’ match type of situation!
- Drink 5 cups of fluid daily.
- Stretch goal: Try for 6-7. (Lol.)
- Cook/Meal prep at least 2-4 meals/week.
- Stretch goal: Make 1-2 recipes from my cookbook collection each month. I have a Whatsapp group with 2 close friends for this to try to keep myself accountable!
- Lift 2-3x/week.
- Stretch goal: Participate in Garage Gym Competition!
- Go to dance practice 2x/week.
- Not really a stretch goal, but other goal: Spring recital!
- Go back to BJJ – 2-3x/week.
- Stretch goal: Get a stripe!
- Pole, Aerial Silks, and/or Lyra 1-2x/week.
- Stretch goal: I don’t know if I ever mentioned on here that I’ve aspired to learn fire hooping since college and just found a place that teaches it… I think I should improve my actual hooping before I get to that though, haha.
- Yoga/stretching at least 3x/week.
- Stretch goal: 5-7x/week would be lovely!
- Stretch goal: Get my splits back on both sides!
- Go hiking 1-2x/month.
- Get advanced scuba certified! (I actually kinda need this in order to go on some of the dives for the Australia/New Zealand trip we’re planning, so uh, hopefully this happens.)
- Climbing 1x every 1-2 months would be great too!
- Get my routine labwork done. I went to see my PCP for the first time earlier this year and she ordered labwork for me. I haven’t gotten them done yet because I’m sure my results will be horrible and I kinda don’t want that on my record (lead by example, right?!), so that’s part of my motivation too!
- Do you have any fitness goals for next year?
- Have you ever made a 101 in 1001? I don’t have my shiz together and just realized I never made one after the last one “ended” in 2022, so I’ll be working on putting one of those together again soon!

Lots of goals. And you did pretty well no one is perfect.
Good luck in 2024.
Looking forward to seeing how you improve.
Thank you! I am too — hoping to get more stuff done this year! :]

Get the bloodwork done as a baseline and I’m sure it’s better than you think! You’re still blessedly young!
hahaha, I promise I’ll make myself go somewhere next year!!

Climbing…
Can I come with you? :D?
I am also going to try to do more hiking. It’s been a while and I miss it. I blame the hot year LOL.
And I am also terrible at drinking water. Four cups sounds like a lot to me!
haha, totally understandable! I hope we both manage to do that more often!
(4 is a lot for me too, but I’ve scaled down from an initial goal of 8 to be more realistic, loll.)
I think once you get that bloodwork done and see your results it will be a relief. I mean that it won’t be as bad as you think. Plus, whatever it is, you will a better idea on what to focus on. You have great goals but to do them, we also need to take care of ourselves. Get that lab work done! :-)
haha, I hope it won’t be as bad as I think. I’ll probably get it done somewhere in the next couple months!
