It’s Foodie Friday (+ also Black Friday)! How’s everyone been doing? It’s been ages since I last did a cookbook review so I figured now would be as good a time as any! (Just in time for the holidays!) This review is for Fabulous Modern Cookies, so if you’ve been looking for some baking inspiration with a twist on old/tried + true recipes, definitely check this one out!

Fabulous Modern Cookies starts off with an intro on the “building blocks” of baking cookies (i.e. the essentials needed), with tips on how to replace sugar or adapt a recipe to be gluten-free, + information about different equipment/tools for happy baking.
The book is divided into 8 different chapters:
Bar Cookies
This chapter teaches you how to make Fudgy Cloud Brownies, Portland Pie Squares, Whiskey-Lemon Sweet Potato Squares, New-School Banana Puddin’ Squares, Mango Sunshine Bars, and more. There are tips on how to cut each batch depending on pan size so that every piece comes out the same size.
Very Vanilla Cookie Artists’ Best Butter Cookies (with an Orange Harvest Spice Variation), Peanut Butter Cup Cut-Out Cookies, Dessert Dream Roll-Out Cookies (with Lemon Cheesecake, Cherry Chip, Coconut Cream, and Cinnamon Roll Swirl variations)… There are also tips on piping + they even offer ideas for plastic alternatives for piping bags.

Each recipe in Fabulous Modern Cookies comes with an intro, a list of ingredients (listed by volume + also includes their weight) + instructions and each recipe starts off with helpful tools + tips that will make your baking experience easier for that particular type of cookie!
There’s a flavor index at the very end too, so that if you’re craving a particular flavor, you can find the primary flavor(s) of different cookies so you can know what you should make!
