Welcome to Travel Tuesday! Have you ever been to Wisconsin? I went there for the first time over the summer while I was on my road trip to visit a few friends, and came across Devil’s Lake State Park. The East Bluff and East Bluff Woods Loop Trail looked awesome, so I decided to hike it!
The night before, I stayed in Madison with one of my childhood friends and we got cheese curds on campus!
But enough about food! :P Read on for more about this trail in Devil’s Lake State Park!
East Bluff and East Bluff Woods Loop Trail
Distance: 2.6 mile loop
Duration: 1-1.5 hours
Elevation: 518 ft
Difficulty: Moderate
Admission: $8 with WI license plate, $11 for out-of-state plate
Parking: Free
Address: S5975 Park Rd, Baraboo, WI 53913
The East Bluff trail is considered to be moderate and can take anywhere from 1.5-3.5 hours. It’s also the main route to get to a number of different rock formations, including the Balanced Rock Trail, Devil’s Doorway, and Potholes Trail.
There are a bunch of gorgeous overlooks along the way, as well as rock formations and cliffs. You might be able to see turkey vultures, bald eagles, and peregrine falcons in the sky, so be sure to look up too!
This seemed like a pretty kid and dog-friendly trail (I saw plenty of both while I was on the trail!)
Be especially careful in the winter! The trail isn’t maintained then, so the ice can be very slippery!
I was trying to get to Milwaukee at a reasonable time so I could get dinner with my friend there. Had this not been the case, I would’ve loved to stay longer to check out a bunch of other hikes, or just hang out at the gorgeous lake. My friend and I went to Bradford Beach at Lake Michigan that evening–I think the view was definitely worth it!
- Have you ever been to Wisconsin? Any other places I should check out next time? :]
- What’s a pretty hike you’ve been on lately?

Thank you! I’ve driven through Tennessee but haven’t ever actually gotten to hike there yet–I hope to someday! :]
