early thanksgiving

When I mentioned to my aunt that it’d be kinda cool to have an early Thanksgiving of sorts over the weekend while I was in southern California (yay for another med school interview!), it blew just a bit out of proportion. I’d been thinking something along the lines of a small family gathering, but I received a text from her a week before the fact telling me that I could invite up to 10 friends and they could all stay over if they wanted to.

While I’d like to think I have well over 10 friends, few of them are in southern California, and a number of them are pretty darn far from where my aunt lives, even if they do happen to reside in socal, so I told her I might be able to get one or two to come.

And…she texted me back saying that if I didn’t have any friends, she could invite some young people, but it was better for me to have my own friends. ;_; Ouch.

I got to see my family again for “Thanksgiving” though! Super happy. :D I didn’t think I was going to see them til December. :O

I also got to see one of my favorite people in the world again! <3 (Rey came along with me to prove to my aunt that I did indeed have friends.)

This is right before we embarked on our 6-hour movie/TV-show-marathoning session. Let’s just say that I slept a lot on the plane the next day.

She picked me up from the airport on Friday afternoon, and as I was standing on the escalator calling to see where I should wait for her, I saw her standing by the “Arrivals” screens holding a sign that said, “Dr. Farrah” on it.

Needless to say, I booked it down the escalator to tackle her with a hug. I haven’t seen her since March. :[! She told me that people were pretty nosy, and that a number of them had walked by and backtracked in slow motion to see what the sign read.

(“Technically, I guess it should read Dr. Fong, but I figured you’d recognize your first name faster than your last.”)
