Welcome to Travel Tuesday! I hadn’t been to Sedona since December 2015 but it was one of my favorite places that I was able to visit while I was homeless (of sorts) in my fourth year of medical school! I hiked Cathedral Rock Trail back then, but am back with another hike there today to the Devils Bridge Trail!
Distance: 4.2 miles (out + back); +2 miles if you don’t own a high clearance vehicle Elevation: 564 ft Difficulty: Moderate Duration: ~2 hours Trailhead Address: 1768-1798 Dry Creek Rd, Sedona, AZ 86336
Parking: If you, like me, do not own a high clearance vehicle with 4WD, you’re going to have to park at the Dry Creek Road trailhead about a mile from the trailhead.
The trail gradually gets steeper as you keep on hiking and cross into the Red Rock-Secret Mountain Wilderness area.
It’ll take you up a natural rock staircase where you can see gorgeous views of the red rocks in Sedona. If you’re afraid of heights, I wouldn’t really recommend going out on to the bridge (but that being said, Rachel is a total trooper and went out there anyway, so you do you–just be safe!).
Devils Bridge is the biggest natural sandstone arch in the Sedona area! It’s a super popular place for photoshoots and there was definitely a line to have photos taken at the bridge, so if you’re looking to be alone on a hike, this definitely isn’t the way to go. I’d still recommend checking it out though!
If the trail is icy or wet, please be extra, extra careful! If you have kids, please be careful with them and don’t let them run wild.
This trail is pretty close to town (only about 15 minutes from the heart of Sedona)–that’s something I especially loved about Sedona. There was always so much amazing hiking just a stone’s throw away from civilization. <3 I’d love to come back here for a sunrise/sunset hike someday!
Can Sedona be any more beautiful!?? Can’t believe this stunning trail is only a few minutes outside of town! I’ll be using your blog as a guide for my next Sedona trip, so I can hike Devil’s Bridge.
Ooohh, that rock is so cool!! (The one shaped kind of like a sphinx? That’s what I see at least.) I’ve not been to Sedona, but I’ve been to other places in Arizona – that ledge is unlike any I saw!! I don’t think I’d be brave like you, haha.
Your photos make me want to jump onto a plane and head over there! I spent 3 summers in the US but haven’t been able to do a lot of hikes so hopefully I can return in the near future.
hehehe, I hope you get to go sometime! (Although you probably don’t want to come anytime soon because people unfortunately still aren’t adhering to social distancing/not gathering, etc. and we’re stuck in this endless cycle of more and more COVID19 cases. :[ sighhh.)
Oh gosh, what a gorgeous trail! Look at the views, I’ve never seen anything like it! The landscape almost makes you feel you’re on a different planet! Daniela recently posted…World Heritage In Grand Est (2022)

Your photos are amazing, and I’ll have the Devil’s Bridge Trails as one place I have to visit in my travels.
