Here’s another recipe from our Chinese New Year celebration! We figured it wouldn’t hurt to have another veggie dish, so we made Boiled Cabbage in Oyster Sauce!
Simple recipes make life a lot easier, especially when we don’t have an Asian supermarket anywhere close by to get ingredients from, so quick 3-ingredient recipes are about as good as it gets! :P
Boiled Cabbage in Oyster Sauce
Ingredients:
- Chinese cabbage
- oyster sauce
- sesame oil
Instructions:
- Cook the cabbage in boiling water (don’t cook for too long–you still want it to be crisp!).
- Drain.
- Add sesame oil + oyster sauce, to taste.
We also made Egg Tarts, matzo balls in broth, 炸馒头 (Fried Mantou), 脆皮炸鲜奶 (Fried Coconut Milk), Chinese Rice Noodles with Snow Peas, another vegetable dish (I don’t know what it’s called in English), and Walmart dumplings (har har; we may attempt to make these from scratch-scratch sometime [by that, I mean making even the wrappers from scratch since we can’t buy them here]).
