I’ve been super slacking in the blogging world lately–there’s been so much stuff to take care of and this year’s gone by so quickly! We’re nearing the end of interview season and I’ve been doing hospital/clinic tours. I consider it an accomplishment that we haven’t gotten lost yet–our hospital is under construction at the moment so it’s kinda like Hogwarts since there’s a new doorway or new blocked-off staircase every few days.
But I digress! If you’re still stumped on gift ideas (gift guide here!), tis the season of giving (I wish this sort of thing would last throughout the year!), so I’m sharing with you several companies I really like that support awesome causes! (This post isn’t sponsored; I just wanted to give em’ some extra love. <3)
6 Brands That Give Back
The Soulfull Project
Most of you probably weren’t aware of this blog back when I was singing my praises tot my favorite eatery in New Jersey–it was called the Soupervan and was a food truck that made healthy meals out of locally sourced, organic ingredients. Best of all, for every meal you bought, they’d donate one to the local soup kitchen.
Soupervan unfortunately isn’t around anymore, but when I came across The Soulfull Project at Expo East, it definitely reminded me of my favorite food truck. I got to try their cereal and it was delicious! Definitely an awesome option for super busy mornings (or any time of day).
For every serving of hot cereal that you buy from them, they donate a serving of their 4 grain cereal to a food bank in your region. They’ve partnered with over 200 regional food banks around the country and track sales in each region + distribute servings to food banks accordingly. You can check out the different food banks they help over here!
Barleans
I’m part of the Barleans blogger team, so I’ve been featuring different products from their company throughout this past year! In case you missed em’, here they are:
- 4-Ingredient Lavender Coconut Oil Lotion
- Mint Chocolate Chip Cookies
- Tropical Protein Banana Muffins
- Golden Mango Pineapple Whip
- Tropical Sunshine Sourdough Pancakes
- Hurricane Popcorn
- 3-Ingredient Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge
- Tropical Fruit Chia Pudding
- Strawberries in Passion Fruit-Flavored Chia
- Maple Pecan Peanut Butter Energy Bites
- Chocolate Cinnamon Popcorn
- DIY Chocolate Peanut Butter Instant Oatmeal
I have one more recipe pending for this year,so stay tuned for a post that’ll be roling out sometime in the next few weeks!
Barleans develops nutritional supplements and their hope is to pave a “Pathway to a Better Life.” :] Some of the organizations they donate to include Kidstown International (committed to providing orphaned children with shelter, clothing, education), supplying food banks with organic coconut oil, Vitamin Angels (supplying vitamin A to >2.5 million children), Autism Hope Alliance, Compassion International (medical checkups, food + education assistance) + Engedi Resfuge (providing survivors of human trafficking with shelter).
Janji
Janji means “promise” in Malay, and 10% of all the sales go toward organizations around the world that are dedicated to alleviating the global water crisis. Their clothing is super soft, comfortable and stylish. <3 You can check out my past reviews for Janji here and here!
Earth Brands
I won a super awesome giveaway for a pair of boots from Earth Brands last year from Gigi (<3!) The pair of boots I got from them are the most comfortable boots I’ve ever owned. (I walked something like 10+ miles through the streets of SF in em’). I love how earth-conscious this brand is, and they’re also partnered with Trees for the Future–for every pair of shoes you buy from them, they’ll plant a tree. <3
My Lip Stuff Charitabalms
If you missed my post on MyLipStuff, you can check it out here! I stacked a billion coupons and got enough lip balms in my order to probably last me the next decade or so. The owner uses recycled and recyclable materials whenever possible, and 50% of the proceeds from her Charitabalms go to companies against animal cruelty that she’s partnered up with! She also has a vegan line of lip balms (free of beeswax)!
Sock Dreams Charitable Socks
If you’ve been around long enough to see the very first [and only other] gift guide I’ve ever made, you might recognize Sock Dreams! (What am I if not consistent? :O!) This is a company based in Oregon (free shipping + no sales tax!) and the socks you buy can benefit different organizations, including: Fighting Pretty, Oregon’s Q Center, Starlight Children’s Society, Oregon Humane Society, International Refugee Assistance Program, and different international relief teams. <3
Bonus: Gixo
I’d also like to give a shoutout to Gixo, aka the only workout app that I’ve ever used consistently! They did a Turkey Trot for Thanksgiving where for each mile run by participants, they donated $10 to Feeding America. Over the weekend, they did a similar one where they donated $5 to Toys For Tots for every mile! :]
P.S. I won 2nd place in their fitness challenge!! Not bad considering my 60-70 hour work weeks, right?! :D

Yay! I hope you like em’! I’m going on a quest next year to find more of these to feature! <3!
Ooh I love those boots! I think it’s great when companies give back. It definitely makes me more interested in supporting them. And I think the season of giving should TOTALLY be a year-long thing.

Me too!! I tend to end up trying to find more excuses to support companies that I know are supporting awesome causes, haha. :]! I wish it were a year-long thing, but…baby steps! *-*

There really are! I have a few that are my absolute favorites, but there are definitely others that I end up coming across that I also want to support!

I actually don’t know any companies that give back to the community off the top of my head, so thank you for informing me…. I do know that Whole Foods gives to charity (and donates some of our money to them too if you want them to)… But otherwise, I am not sure. Wow, I feel like a terrible human being! lol

That’s pretty cool! I didn’t know that about Whole Foods!
P.S. You’re the one who let me know about Earth Brands, so that’s definitely something! ;P
What a great list! It’s easy to start a business but harder to dedicate time to being a good human!

Agreed! I’m glad that these brands do both! ;P Will be on the lookout for more this upcoming year! :]
