Despite monthly “coffee dates” on the blog, I’m not much of a coffee drinker. Tea is my sometimes-caffeinated beverage of choice. However, my “splurge” drinks are Taiwanese-style milk teas (also known as bubble tea, boba, + pearl milk tea)!
When I was growing up, my friends and I would often walk to a nearby milk tea shop and pass the time playing board games + drink milk tea while snacking on popcorn chicken.
My standard order is 30% sugar and less or no ice, usually without tapioca pearls lately (they don’t have that much nutritional value). Lately, in the interest of saving money, as drinks can now cost $4-7, I’ve been experimenting with making my own!
I recently got some cocoa powder from Divine Chocolate, and as it’s currently still Choctober week, I decided to try creating a hot + vegan Chocolate Milk Tea!
Divine Chocolate‘s baking products are all Vegan Society Certified and made with the highest quality cocoa for a delicious taste and rich consistency. They’re also the only Fairtrade chocolate company in the world that’s co-owned by cocoa farmers! <3 (Kuapa Kokoo Farmers’ Co-operative in Ghana co-owns 44%!)

I like to eat mostly vegan, and have been craving hot chocolate with this colder fall weather! Such a timely post :)

I’m sad summer’s gone, but excited for fall foods and hot drinks! :] Hope you like this!
this is such a great idea – Since Dirty Chai (coffee and chai) has become so popular, why not chocolate tea?
Agreed! I actually still have yet to try dirty chai, but I’ll have to one of these days when I need a caffeine boost!
This chocolate tea looks so delicious! Need to try this
Thanks! I hope you like it! :]
I’m loving everything about this! The cute cat mug (cat-lover here) and chocolate. Yum!
Yay for a fellow cat lover! My friend gave this to me as a graduation-from-residency present! :]!
That sounds wonderful! I’ve never thought to add chocolate to my tea – what a great idea!
Thanks! I hope you like it!
