Earlier last-last year, I won this cookbook (Southern Living Super Fast Southern) from a giveaway at Jessica’s blog, A Little More Each Day, and I’m finallyyy getting around to reviewing it! (There are affiliate links in this post, so I may get a tiny commission if you click through to buy something, at no cost to you!)
I’m probably not the best person to ask when it comes to “authentic Southern dishes/cooking” because…aside from chicken and waffles, I really can’t name much else. West Virginia seems to kindasorta consider itself as part of the South, but I’m still hopelessly confused, so if some of these don’t sound “authentic” to you, consider this to be my forewarning.
However, if you’re all for comfort food and don’t have very many (if any) dietary restrictions, I think you’ll like this book!

Each recipe includes the prep time, serving size, ingredients, and instructions. Wherever applicable, there are also “Instant Adds” and “Easy Sides” to find store-bought toppings and simple sides for the recipe in question.

Agreed! Fast/easy/relatively healthy dishes are my favorite! :D!
My favorites are cornbread for savory, banana pudding for sweet (what, we need to eat something other than carbs?) I’m also totally that southerner who has to eat black-eyed peas and collard greens on New Year’s, though I hated the greens growing up.

Banana pudding! I haven’t had that in ages, and I also haven’t ever had black-eyed peas (I don’t think)–this clearly needs to change soon! :P
It’s funny how taste buds change over the years!

You’re reminding me that my husband really wants us to crack open a recipe book or two and break out of our typical routine of what we make and try something new!
