Oh em gee you guys. This book. :O
I don’t have any food allergies that I know of (except perhaps a very slight dairy intolerance[?]), but if you do happen to have any allergies/sensitivities to the following:
- Gluten
- Dairy
- Eggs
- Soy
- Peanuts
- Tree nuts
- Shellfish
- Cane sugar
You should definitely check this book out, because the 150+ recipes in here are free of all of the above! :O
Pure Delicious
Genre: Cookbook
Pages: 352
Pure Delicious has over 150 different allergen-free recipes and they all look absolutely amazing. o_o Where to start?!
Before we get to the recipes, lemme introduce the first 6 chapters!
- Our Story of Transformation: This chapter details how this book came into being, from the author’s daughter’s visit to the ER and their extensive symptom lists to what they did and/or learned from eliminating different foods from their diets.
- The Food Elimination Diet: 90% of all food allergies in the U.S. are caused by the “Big 8” (dairy, eggs, gluten, soy, tree nuts, peanuts, shellfish, fish). This section will take you through the reasoning behind an elimination diet + how to reintroduce foods and what to watch out for.
- A Kitchen That Supports You: Need to create a trigger-free environment? This section’s for you! It includes a list of the author’s most-used ingredients + her preferred appliances and tools.
- Helping Kids Transition: As the title suggests, this chapter includes tips and tricks on how to make eating restrictions a smoother process with kids.
- Eating Out: This section includes suggestions on what to order if you’re out at a restaurant!
- Eight Weeks To A New Normal: will take you through an 8-week elimination diet plan to clear your body of most possible allergens + calmed inflammation.

This sounds amazing! I am a bit intolerant to gluten, but I think anything that eliminates food which can bloat etc is fab. Will be checking this book out, thank you!

OMG ARE YOU SERIOUS!
I don’t have any allergies (maybe some slight gluten related bloating but I am NOT giving up bread.) but the Mister is allergic to nuts which makes cooking SUCH a pain sometimes.
This is AWESOME, I need to buy it today. Those Sweet and Spicy Apricot Chicken Wings need to be in my stomach STAT.

Yay!! I hope you like it! I need those chicken wings in my life too–I made BBQ chicken drumsticks last night, but will definitely have to try these out after I finish those!!! :O
So I told my coworker about this book and she bought it because her family runs a gluten free/vegan pre-prepped meal company (they pre package the meals and spices and you cook from there!)
anyway, I was even more in love with it after I flipped through her copy, so I clicked through on your links and bought it. I’m SO PUMPED as is the mister because of his food stuff
Thanks Farrah!

I know this comment may be a little controversial….but is this food allergen issue and American only issue? I feel as if this is bigger then avoiding certain foods, in avoiding certain food providers. I have been on a quest for 5 yrs now, since my daughter was born to find a better way of eating, and I have only come to one conclusion, I am terrified of where food comes from, and Im lost. I personally feel that food allergens are created by all the chemicals that are placed on food and not the food itself. I wonder in your case, being that you are studying to be a doctor, are you schooled in food chemicals as the root cause of allergens? You don’t have to answer this if you don’t want too:o)

I’m not entirely sure–the food allergen issue seems to have popped up wayyyy way more in the last few years, but I don’t know if it’s just because people are just noticing it more in relation to food or if things in our foods have changed (probably some of both). I think most medical schools (mine included) unfortunately have veryyyy very little in the way of a nutrition curriculum, so I sadly do not have any idea about that. :[ I’m working on developing a nutrition curriculum with my advisor and another resident for my residency though! (We’re focusing more on healthy food choices/recipes/nutrients though.) A dietitian or nutritionist would have a lot more knowledge on this than me!
