Hello everyone, and happy Thursday! :] As the title suggests, I’m making somewhat of an attempt to organize my life, both on this blog and in med school (my other life) because if I don’t add a little structure soon, I will likely go insane! :O! I don’t know how long I’ll be able to keep this up once my away rotations start, but I’ll see what I can do!
- If you’re stopping by from the “Grow Your Blog” Blog Hop and have never been here before, welcome! :]
- If you’ve stopped here once or twice, or have been hanging out here for a while (thank you! <3), consider this my “other” start page (since I never mentioned anything about that one)! ;P
I ammmmm a 3rd-year medical student who blogs mostly about fitness, food & healthy living! At present, I’m on my clinical rotations and trying to keep an open mind…but nothing’s changed.
I still want to go into family medicine, and I’m still especially interested in preventative care, working with the under-served, and sports medicine. <3
When I’m not at the hospital/clinic trying to be a sponge so I can absorb as much knowledge as humanly possible, I like to make food (recipes here!), work out (yay for gettin’ my fitness on!), volunteer, and…blog (really, Farrah? I’d never have guessed!)
- Medical Mondays: I figured it only fitting that I at least incorporate some of the things I’m learning in school/out in the real world into my blog! I started this series at the beginning of 2015, and each week, I cover a different topic in medicine! :] You can find out more about its inception here. This week’s topic was on Hypertension! Remember how I mentioned there’d be a Part II? Please head over to Zen & Spice to check it out (thanks, Emily! <3)!
- Dish The Fit Tuesdays: I started joining in on this linkup at the end of 2014, and I adore it! :] There’s an optional fitness-related topic each week, and I’ve really loved reading everyone’s posts; it’s awesome how encouraging everyone is of each other (a behavior I wish everyone would adopt)!
- Wednesday/Thursdays: Free-for all! I have no idea what will go in here, but I like to write, so don’t you worry! Whether it’s a reflection on a rotation, random musings/ponderings on life, book reviews, another new recipe…there’ll [probably] be something!
- Foodie Fridays: In keeping with my love of all things food-related, I co-host a weekly recipe linkup with four lovely ladies (Annmarie, Esther, Emily & Cassandra)! :] We make healthified recipes for a different theme each Friday!
So much recipe goodness to be had! <3
With Love Fridays: For the month of February, in an attempt to combat the fact that I’ve been called heartless (:O?!), I’ll also be co-hosting a linkup on love with Kristie, Lisa & Georgina! We’ll be posting every Friday (like you couldn’t tell that :O ) on any and all things to do with love, from your favorite person to a place you love…or even your favorite shoe (just one). Want to find out more about some of your co-hosts? Check here!
Check back here at midnight EST for my first post, and feel free to join us! :]
- Weekends are free-for-alls as well, mostly because I’m actually trying not to blog then (I need to study), but there may be a couple that pop up every here and there. :D
- Is there a topic you’d like me to cover for Medical Mondays? (No promises, but I can definitely try!)
- If you blog, do you follow some sort of a schedule? Any tips on staying organized?
- Are you gonna participate in any of the linkups? :D?! Take your pick on fitness, love and/or food/recipes! :D

No ma’am you are definitely NOT heartless! Anybody who volunteers so frequently with cats is NOT heartless by any means! Plus you’re just a great human being, I can tell. How dare they. Where are they? Let me at ’em! ;)

(That lovely gem came from the first relationship I was ever in. 'Twas a kinda terrible experience because hooray for the psycho ex that followed, but it is a-okay now!). I found out all my red flags and dealbreakers early on. :]
Your schedule looks pretty good to me! Thank you for sharing the link ups, some are new to me! I am really enjoying your Medical Mondays so far! Some topics that I would love to hear about are mental health, cholesterol and thyroid health ;)

Thank you! <3! Amenorrhea was on my list, but I'll definitely add HPV/irregular Paps onto my list! My OB/GYN rotation is in May, so I'll see what I can glean from there!
I think your schedule looks great, and I’m going to look into a couple of those link ups. I don’t follow a particular schedule yet, but I’m trying to narrow something down. After these past few months of randomness, I’m starting to get a feel for what I truly enjoy blogging about and sharing with the world. The Foodie Friday thing is totally up my alley ;)

Hehehe, mine started out as just a private blog for me to use as a way to document my life in grad/med school, but mostly just turned into a documentation of my kitchen experiments. (My life revolves around food, so I guess it makes sense.)
We’d love to have you join in on Foodie Fridays! <3! Your recipes look super delicious! :D!!
Oh, and if you ever cover Iron Deficiency or Iron Deficiency Anemia I am so there. I have Iron deficiency anemia and we cannot figure out what it going on. So far the only iron I can take is Blood Builders from Whole Foods..everything else messes me up. So any great iron sources, etc are right up my alley as well :)

I’ll definitely add that to my list! We [unfortunately] aren’t taught much more than the bare basics in terms of nutrition (makes me sad :[ ), but I’ll see what I can dig up! :]

During undergrad, I volunteered as an interpreter and patient advocate at a free primary clinic (staffed entirely by volunteers) for a mostly uninsured + under-served population. They’re a huge part of what inspired me to go into medicine to begin with, and I’d love to go back there to volunteer as a physician someday! :]

I should probably create a home schedule, in the same vein as your blog. Things to improve my personal life, anyways. Plus, it oughta be better than my “work, gym, sleep” schedule, haha.

Thank you! :D Glad to have found you as well, and it’d be awesome to have you link up with us again! :]
I’m totally intrigued about your medical post Monday’s, seriously looking forward to following you for those!
As for organizing, I am a wedding planner so I have organization down to an art, but any other person who looks at my organization might disagree, LOL I put things where they make sense for me and my system, LOL
But my only tip is and really the biggest key, start with one thing finish it, and then move to the next. Prioritize by what needs to be done first. I know, probably doesn’t sound like much help. But seriously, its the only way I keep life straight:) LOL
I love that you have a blogging schedule, I do that too! I find it helps my readers who like to visit just on certain days, for certain things. It also gives me a little wider blogging option. But at the same time, forces me to not just blog about anything, but spend time to work on specific posts for specific times and I don’t know if others think the same as me, but I find the content is a bit more fulfilling when I do that, instead of random. However, I follow a few bloggers who are totally random and because of their personality I just love their blogs. So guess pretty much anything can work if you find your niche, LOL

Thanks! :D I hope you like it!
hahaha, I feel ya on that! I’m completely the same way. People look at my “organization” and tend to wonder how I manage to find anything, but the thing is…it’s MY organized mess. I know where everything is in this controlled chaos! :O (My mom has tried to straighten stuff up a couple times on me, and it took a million moons to find everything again.)
Starting with one thing and finishing it before starting another is actually probably the best advice you could’ve given me! I have a really bad problem with having a crap ton of ideas and wanting to start them all, so I continually have half a billion projects going on at once. Sooo…it’s for-sure something I need to work on, and I appreciate the advice! :]!
That’s a great way to look at it though! I’m not entirely sure what my “niche” is, although I’m assuming healthy living/fitness/food covers most of it! :P “Farrah’s life” would be even more accurate. :]
I find it especially helpful to use my Google calendar to keep track of all of my blog posts. On Mondays I write my training log update for the previous week, and on Fridays I participate in the Friday Five linkup with the DC Trifecta. I leave the other days for other topics, and like you, avoid blogging on the weekends.

I think I was starting to get overwhelmed too, because I really love all the interaction, and try to respond to everyone who comments, and visit all their blogs too. But it gets super hard because there are so many awesome ones out there and I keep finding more and more! D: It's hard to balance, which is why I figured a schedule might help, since it at least puts a little more structure into my life. :O
For linkups, (e.g. this week's Foodie Friday: http://www.fairyburger.com/thai-vegetable-curry-bowl/), at the very bottom, there’s a button you can click to add a link of your own (in this case, to whatever recipe you wanted to share) and then you fill our your name and email like you would for any comment, and then click submit! :]
For the one I co-host, there’s a new [optional] theme every week that you can choose to follow, but we all love food, so there are definitely lots of free-for-all recipes as well. It’s a nice way to share posts with other bloggers with similar interests and I usually try to visit everyone who submits a link. :D
