A Weekend Back in Lewisburg

If you follow me on facebook, you may have noticed the scattered photos of various adorable animals and sunsets and delicious food.

The reasoning behind this? I actually had Labor Day (and Friday) off, so I figured I’d spend my long weekend back in Lewisburg and take Linda out for an early birthday celebration since I couldn’t be around for her actual birthday!

I’d planned on leaving Thursday evening after my shift, but as luck would have it, everything that could go wrong with every patient I picked up went wrong–it took hours for specialists to call me back, for labs to be drawn, etc. I ended up getting home about 4 hours after my shift should have ended, so I decided to sleep a little before journeying onward.

I made a pit stop at a beautiful waterfall along the way (the post for that is scheduled to be published in uh, June of next year…but you can check out my other travels in the meantime!? <3). Here’s a sneak peek before I waded over to sit off the edge of it!

I was greeted by Lady, who decided I made a great pillow and basically made it so I couldn’t move from where I lay on the floor.

(I missed you too, Lady! <3)

When I finally managed to extract myself from the floor, I went to go visit everyone else! Remember when I posted about life on the farm? Look how big Pantaloon has gotten! (Is that not the best/most fitting name ever?)

Happy to report that everyone missed me just as much as I missed them! I was decorated in cats for pats while I cleaned litter boxes.

When Linda came back, we went to our favorite restaurant in town–Fujiyama–and I was greeted at the door by a super happy and excited Daris (our favorite server there), who gave me a huge hug and seated us immediately.

Dinner was delicious (as always) and Daris brought out a fried banana dessert for us to celebrate! It was apparently also the manager’s birthday as well as two other patrons’ birthdays, so he came out singing, “Happy birthday to us, happy birthday to us…”

I spent the evening chilling on the floor with these adorably awesome dogs (as per usual) and catching up with Linda. :]

A chronological turn of events.

The next day, I went to church to visit everyone and they made sure I stayed for the delicious potluck afterward. (After all these years, they’re definitely well aware of me and my love for food.) It was awesome to get to see them all again!

I’ve really missed the gorgeous sunsets and just all-around wilderness in West Virginia. Yes, it does often feel like you’re living in the middle of nowhere, but being able to look up at the night sky and not be able to even count all the stars in the sky? Absolutely priceless. Makes me wish I had some experience with astrophotography, because it was a beautiful sight to behold and I’d love to be able to capture it! <3

After we took care of the cats in the barn on Sunday, I spent the rest of the day working on stuff with Dora in my lap. :]

We also had lots of delicious indoor food adventures/kitchen experiments, most of which will be showing up on the blog at some point this year, so stay tuned! <3

Also came across the realization that I could totally be a meme…

That’s a ginormous grouper tacoritto I’m holding, just in case you’re wondering!

  • What did you do over the weekend?
  • If you were ever in a meme, what would it be for?

  1. Home sweet home! What a great trip back! Whoever named Pantaloon should be knighted, lol. A) for the name, which is one of my favorite words and b) for the aptness of it. #nailedit

    1. I love nature/being outside, so I think if I ever lived in a city, I’d have to make frequent getaways, or have it be near someplace where I could retreat to take a break from all the buildings/concrete! (Gotta love all the delicious food options/diversity in cities though! :P )

  9. That sunset is beautiful!! I love the country. We try to get out of the city and into the country as much as possible. For Labor Day we went to NH and VT and visited with family. It was nice to see green grass and trees.

    1. Ah, that’s awesome!! :] I’ve never been that far north, but I have a 4-day weekend in June of next year and I’m hoping to go up there (and to Maine) to explore! :]!

hahaha, I've definitely had those too! :P Thankfully, most of them have never been captured...?

  12. If I was in a meme it would probably be one of the “got me like” with me making a grumpy face. I definitely suffer from bitchy resting face :’D

    1. hahaha, I most definitely have a resting bitch face as well! x_x

  13. PANTALOOOOOOOOOON!!!!

yes that’s an amazing name, and it looks like your weekend was GORGEOUS!

My meme would probably be something along the lines of “approach with caution if unfed” and a picture of my RBF… either that or “I workout so I can eat cupcakes” and then just me holding about 12 mini cupcakes, crumbs all over my face, grinning like an idiot

    I’m pretty classy you see…

Glad you had a great labour day weekend!

Oooo, that’d definitely be a good one! I’m terrible to be around when I’m hungry, and I like to work out so I can eat the world! Clearly we’re the classiest of em’ all. <3

I hope your weekend was awesome too!
